Grand House, Vila Real de Santo Antonio

Occupying an immaculately restored building from 1926, the stunning Belle Epoque style Grand House offers friendly, attentive service and beautiful surroundings for the discerning traveller. Located in the picturesque town of Vila Real de Santo Antonio on Algarve's easternmost corner, the hotel overlooks the marina and the Guadiana River that separates Portugal and Spain.

Interiors are inspired by the glamour of the Roaring Twenties, and gorgeously designed guest rooms and suites feature muted colours, intricate wood panelling, elegant period furnishings and hand-woven rugs.

Paying homage to the local cuisine of the Eastern Algarve, chef Jan Stechemesser combines tradition with a modern touch at the Grand Salon restaurant and at the hotel's beach club the stylish waterfront restaurant serves classic favourites in a laid back atmosphere.

An infinity swimming pool, sundeck and cocktail bar are also features of the Grand Beach Club, which is located by a small, sandy beach where the river meets the sea.

Interior spaces include a cosy library, the speakeasy-style Grand Salon Bar for a perfectly mixed cocktail and gentle melodies, whilst a range of massages can be enjoyed at the Wellness Suite, with a personal trainer and private yoga classes bookable for those looking for something more active.

Part of the hotel and housed 50m down the road in the town's former Customs House, the concept store Grand Gallery sells an eclectic array of products and the Grand Café & Lounge serves snacks, small bites and delicious homemade pastries.

Medium rooms
A variety of Medium guest rooms, located on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor range from 24 to 32m2 and enjoy river, marina or city views. Some feature French balcony, others striking floor to ceiling windows and some an intimate attic style with dormer windows.

Grand suites
Located on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd floor and ranging in size from 33-50m2, these stunning suites offer an elegant blend of Art Nouveau elements, a sophisticated touch of Baroque and contemporary style furnishings. Some have a French balcony and views either of the town or the river and marina.
