Puerto Banus Holidays

A young Julio Iglesias sang for the Aga Khan, Hugh Heffner, Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco and Dr Christiaan Barnard on a balmy May evening in 1970 when Puerto Banus first opened presumably its moorings, as opposed to, its doors. Whilst the juvenile Julio sang for his supper, 300 waiters busied themselves distributing Beluga caviar amongst the 1700 celebrants. Since then, Puerto Banus has little deviated from its mission of attracting a notable crowd of wealthy admirers, although some might say that, today, it attracts considerably more Heffners than Barnards.

As adjectives go, luxury is too poor a superlative to apply to the super-yachts whose human cargo enjoys the nocturnal distractions of the bars, clubs, restaurants and designer boutiques quayside. Diurnal hours are dedicated to lounging in champagne soaked beach clubs, braying to a hedonistic beat.
