The island is the locally acclaimed birthplace of Marco Polo and boasts one of the Adriatic Coast's best preserved medieval cities, stunning Korcula Town, with a magnificent 15th century cathedral boasting a painting by Tintoretto, marble alleyways lined with Renaissance and Gothic architecture and a tiny museum dedicated to Marco Polo.
