Bol Holidays

Bol, a small town on the southern shore of Brac island, is perhaps most famous for its shifting white pebble beach, known as Zlatni Rat, roughly translated as Golden Cape. A promontory of pine trees point out into the Hvar Channel with the pebble beach on either side. The tidal channel keeps the beach moving, and also makes the water cleaner and cooler; indeed it is so crystalline clear that the sea floor appears much shallower than its 30 feet depth. The remains of a Roman villa can be found amongst the pines, and the western edge of the beach, and coves beyond, are traditionally viewed as clothing optional. Holidays in Bol are enlivened by a collection of harbourside restaurants and bars, and a small Dominican church which has the luxury of being home to a collection of works or art by a 17th century Venetian painter.
